It takes a whole year for the Earth to go around the sun from Christmas to Christmas. The sun is the hottest thing in the solar system. Venus is the second! The Earth is the only planet with life on it! The sun is also the biggest thing in the milky way. The Moon's light is just the sun reflecting on it's surface so if there is a half moon you know that the earth is in the way of the sun so not as much light is shining on the moon.
